Last Major Update: 6/14/2014 10:00 AM

6-14-2014
Please be aware of the important changes that were made for Round 31 by reading this thread.

5-20-2014
Made some changes to the nation display page. I merged the two rows that were previously labeled "My Resources" and "Connected Resources" into just one row labeled "Connected Resources". A green border around a resource will indicate that nation's resources. I also consolidated a few rows, moved the flag to a different spot, and added some new bar charts to the screen. You may need to force a site refresh in your browser to see all the updates.

3-10-2014
Similar to ground battles, a spy operation must now be successful to gain Intelligence XP. From the Information Index: You can only gain Intelligence XP levels during a successful spy mission against nations that you are at war with.

2-1-2014
Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 29 has started today. This will be a 60 day round, everyone starts with $10,000,000 cash, wonders can be purchased every 5 days, war cannot be declared on new nations until 5 days after they are created, nukes require 200 tech and 1,000 infras, and everyone also starts with 50 spies.
Congratulations to the following Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 28 winners. The winners may contact admin via private message on the forums to claim your prizes as detailed on the CN:TE prizes screen.

  1. Most Destructive War - Resurrection vs Lacuna Corporation - 26,347.26 Destruction
  2. 1st Place Nation Strength - The King of Kings of Persia - 36,879.561 Strength
  3. 2nd Place Nation Strength - RoadRash of Rashville - 32,719.778 Strength

1-12-2014
Please take a moment to visit the newly created Cyber Nations Facebook Page. I will be posting regular updates to this page as well as sneak peaks on what I'm working on for the game. Also we have quite a large Cyber Nations Facebook Group currently with 1,659 members. I invite everyone to come and join the discussions.

9-22-2013
A few changes for Tournament Round 27:

  1. Hiring a general consumes all that general's XP.
  2. Terminating a general returns 70% of the general's XP.
  3. Added an Assassinate Enemy Generals spy operation.
  4. Gather Intelligence spy operations now reveal the defender's XP ratings.
  5. Can only get XP from spies that you are at war with.
  6. Can only get ground battle XP when victorious.
  7. Tournament Round 27 will not be a full 90 day round. It will end on December 14th so that the round does not end during the Christmas holidays as requested here.

3-18-2013
Lowered the value of selling land and infrastructure.

3-6-2013
Working on some changes to the layout of the site. If it all works out I'll implement into CN standard soon.

1-28-2013
Added a war details screen. This screen will now track damage and casualties inflicted by each nation involved in a war. The game began gathering these statistics on 1/26/2013 so only wars declared after that date will have completely accurate statistics. Click the icon under each war to view the war details screen.
The nuclear launch screen will now indicate the time wait as an actual date/time rather than the arbitrary 25 hours after declaring war. For example: You must wait until 1/29/2013 7:40:15 PM to launch nuclear weapons.

12-3-2011
Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 20 has just started today. Congratulations to our Round 19 winners Daine (1st), Tamir (2nd), and Alfred Jodocus Kwak (3rd) who each will receive the prizes as detailed on the Tournament Edition prizes screen.

9-4-2011
Major Update to Cyber Nations Tournament Edition: Players can now manage their own alliances, upload flags, approve membership request, remove or ban nations from the alliance. You can also give alliance titles to individual alliance members, give them access rights to help you manage your alliance, and assign an alliance heir to take control of your alliance in case you decide to leave your alliance or delete your nation. You can provide a brief description about your alliance and also make your alliance forums link visible on your alliance display screen.
Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 19 has just started today. Congratulations to our Round 18 winners Untraceable (1st), Cumi Pilek (2nd), and Nwabudike Morgan (3rd) who each will receive the prizes as detailed on the Tournament Edition prizes screen.

4-21-2011

Congratulations to our Round 16 winners NoEyeDear (1st), Double 0 Thirteen (2nd), and All By Myself (3rd) who each will receive the prizes as detailed on the Tournament Edition prizes screen.
A number of changes have been made to Cyber Nations Tournament Edition including increases to ground battle loot, shorter nuclear anarchy effects, a ban on nuclear purchases until a nation is at least 5 days old. For a full list of all the changes to please see this thread.

3-30-2011
A few minor changes were made today. To help remove clutter on the left navigation menu, the Delete My Nation link has been moved to the Edit My Nation screen and taken off the left navigation menu. A unique identifier has been added to the war stats download file to help detect duplicates when compiling the data over time.

3-29-2011
There was some confusion regarding the site terms and conditions pertain to automated scripts. The last sentence in clause #7 of the website terms and conditions has been changed from, "Browser add-ons are generally ok as long as they do not cause increased server loads or present security issues." and now reads as, "Static browser add-ons, those that do not perform any kind of automated routines, are generally ok as long as they do not increase server loads or present security issues. If you are planning on running any type of browser add-on you are advised to contact the admin directly and seek approval first."

The reason for this rule is two fold. 1) To prevent server activity spikes from automated scripts and 2) For fairness to everyone who plays the game who follow the rules and do not use automated scripts to gain advantages in-game. If you are going to use a browser add-on with this site and are unsure if it is allowed or not, please ask before using it.

2-19-2011
We have just wrapped up another exciting round of Cyber Nations Tournament Edition. Round 16 has just started today. If you are interested in a more aggressive version of Cyber Nations then head on over to Cyber Nations Tournament Edition and register an account. Players are allowed to have one account on Cyber Nation Standard and one account on Cyber Nations Tournament Edition.
A number of changes have been made to Cyber Nations Tournament Edition including giving nations the ability to select their own native resources once every 7 days, new nations start with $5 million, and wars last for 5 days instead of 7 days. For a full list of all the changes to please see this thread.

1-21-2011
Added Battle Taunts to the ground attack screen. If you have suggestions for additional default Battle Taunts see the suggestion box.
Added a 30 Day Nation Strength History chart to the World Demographics screen. I started collecting this data on the 15th so it will be a few more weeks until the chart fills itself out fully.
Added an Alliance Statistics download file in the Stats Download screen.

1-15-2011
As requested here, the Detailed Alliance Statistics screen will now count active nations as those who have logged in within the past 2 days rather than using a nations last tax collection.

1-12-2011
Added war reasons to the stats download files.

12-18-2010

6-7-2010
Upgraded the Nuclear News Reports screen to provide records of all successful attacks as well as thwarted attacks for the last 60 days. The screen now has two tabs at the top which allow you to view nuclear attacks and nuclear purchases. Both the nuclear attacks tab and the nuclear purchases tabs are searchable by a range of search options now.
Finalized the update to the in-game popup navigation menus. The popup menus make navigating the game much easier and they can be turned on or off in your My Profile screen. (since there are redundant links throughout the game, turning the popup menus off will not affect gameplay)
Also over the past couple of days a character counter has been added to the in-game private message box and on the infrastructure and land purchase pages the game will now remember your last purchase amount for easier bulk purchases.

4-22-2010
Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 11 has started. Congratulations to 'Chiftelos' of  'Harrys Harlots' who won Tournament Round 10 who will be allowed to submit a custom flag design to be uploaded to CN:TE and CN Standard.

4-16-2010
I'm doing some testing using Facebook Connect which will allow players to publish bits of information about your nation to your Facebook wall. All of this information is private, meaning no one will be able to see your Facebook profile but you, only you will control what gets posted to your Facebook wall, and none of your Facebook data will be collected or shared by us.

2-21-2010
Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 10 has started. Congratulations to 'Severus Snape' of  'Spinners End' who won Tournament Round 9 who will be allowed to submit a custom flag design to be uploaded to CN:TE and CN Standard.

12-23-2009
Downloadable nation statistics are now available via the Stats Downloads screen. More information about the statistics files can be found by following that link. A link to the Stats Download screen can be found on the World Statistics, Tools, & Links page. This is a CN:TE only update as CN standard cannot support these file downloads.
Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 9 has started. Congratulations to 'Undefined' of  'Unlimited' who won Tournament Round 8 who will be allowed to submit a custom flag design to be uploaded to CN:TE and CN Standard.
The donation screen has been reworked. I've updated some of the rewards (the $20 bonus will remain the same) and done away with the store purchase bonus and replaced it with a new $25 donation bonus option. The new $25 donation option is just like making a $20 donation plus getting the old store purchase bonus except now you don't have to buy an item and pay for all that expensive shipping just to get the game bonus. This will also allow me to clean up some backend code and allow me to keep track of things much easier. The Cyber Nations Merchandise Store will remain open for players who still wish to make purchase from it, just know that there is no longer an in-game bonus associated with your purchase.

12-17-2009
The team message notification has been re-introduced. Whenever a team senator posts a new team message you'll get a notification on your nation display screen. Players caught abusing or spamming team messages will be warned.
Added a search box on the senate election screen to help players find their favorite candidate faster and easier.
Updated the all alliances stats page per this bug report.

10-24-2009

Tournament Round 7 was the last round that we'll be giving away t-shirts to the top 10 winners of the tournament round. A new prize may or may not be decided on for the current and future rounds.

8-25-2009
Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 7 has started. Congratulations to 'Double 0 Seven' of  'Top Secret HQ' who won Tournament Round 6 who will be allowed to submit a custom flag design to be uploaded to CN:TE and CN Standard.

7-28-2009
Starting today at 11:30 AM game time the inactivity deletion routine now automatically deletes nations on 25 days inactivity instead of on 20 days inactivity. Tax collections are now capped at 20 days. The additional time added before automatic deletion occurs is intended to give players some buffer time in case of connection issues or other problems so that they can collect taxes and prevent automatic account deletion. To be clear, nations will now be deleted ON 25 days inactivity, at no specific time. So the advice is to prevent your nation from getting to 25 days of inactivity. If your account is deleted due to inactivity it will not be restored. This update is not retroactive so if your nation was previously deleted on 20 days inactivity under the previous rules it will not be restored. The website terms and conditions have been updated to reflect this change.

7-20-2009
The nation maps in the game have been updated with a more modern interface, scroll wheel zoom, new nation icons, and upgrades to the nation land indicator circles.

6-26-2009
Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 6 has started. Congratulations to 'Firebolt' of  'Welchwood' who won Tournament Round 5 who will be allowed to submit a custom flag design to be uploaded to CN:TE and CN Standard.
Starting with Round 6 we're giving away t-shirts to the top 10 nations ranked by overall nation strength at the end of the tournament round. See the tournament prizes page for details.
The alliance score equation has been updated to better suit the Tournament Edition playing field.

6-24-2009
Nations start each new day at midnight update with 2 attacking and 2 defending spy slots plus 1 attacking spy slot per active war that can be used only against their war opponents. Nations will continue to only receive two defending spy operations against them per day. This change, along with the changes made on 6-15, will be rolled out to CN:Standard soon.

6-15-2009
A number of changes have been made to spy operations. See the information index for the updated list of spy operations and their new costs and effects. Two new spy operations Sabotage IRS Proficiency and Destroy Land have been added. Additionally the spy operations of Incite Government Propaganda, Incite Religious Propaganda, Sabotage IRS Proficiency and Change Threat Level now require the defender to collect taxes before changing the individual settings that these spy operations effect. Destroy Defending Tanks now destroys 10% of tanks rather than a flat limit of 50 and Destroy Technology, Destroy Infrastructure, and Destroy Money Reserves have had their caps increased. These changes will be rolled out to CN:Standard soon.

6-3-2009
- Nations that are at war who self anarchy themselves who have not already received a defeat alert that day will now be deducted the equivalent of a ground battle defeat alert with damage modifiers based on their opponent with the highest technology level. Damage from self anarchy now includes the loss of spies, technology levels, infrastructure levels, and money in addition to the usual Anarchy penalty. These totals can be pre-determined before a deployment is issued by clicking the 'Confirm Deployment' button on the military deployment screen. If a nation is not at war then these damage additions to spies, technology, and infrastructure will not apply.
Victorious defending nations will now receive additional loot money based on an attackers and the defenders abandoned equipment in ground battles. The additional loot is $2.00 per soldier killed and $50.00 per tank destroyed.
These changes will be rolled out to CN:Standard soon.

2-26-2009
Cyber Nations Tournament Edition Round 4 has started. Congratulations to 'The Boss' of  'Empire' who won Tournament Round 3 who will be allowed to submit a custom flag design to be uploaded to CN:TE and CN Standard. (Flag 'Custom 56' was his submitted flag)
Tournament Rounds now reset every 60 days instead of every 90 days.
Improvements now require only 500 citizens rather than 1000 citizens.
The prices and some of the requirements to purchase and operate spies, and the purchase costs of navy vessels, improvements, and wonders have been reduced. See the information index for details.

12-10-2008
A war notification option has been added to the My Profile screen. Check the war notification box if you wish to receive email notifications when someone declares war on your nation. We're testing this feature in CN:TE and if all works ok then we'll be adding this feature to CN:Standard soon.

Corrected an issue where aircraft over the base limit was reduced in higher numbers after a nuclear attack.

8-30-2008
Round Two of CN:TE has officially begun.
